While this is an updated picture of my ‘Backup’ model, I couldn’t find the black paracord clamps that I usually have on the end of the lanyard. Since the picture was taken, I have found them. Things tend to go missing when you are trying to finish everything at once.

So! I’m going to try to start posting a knife every Monday. I’m whittling down the amount of orders at a pretty brisk pace, compared to how things were going before. I typically allow Sunday to be my day for doing what I want to do. Usually that is a mix of experiments or working on the handful of swords that I’ve been messing with for eons now.

So! Plans to destroy my current shop are underway. I’ll be remodeling it in sections. The main part is the forge, which will be like an old blacksmith’s shop. Bellows, coal forge, grindstone, the complete setup.

Of course, this will be once I’m caught up on orders. Which I will stop taking them soon. My whole operation will be shut down for at least a month. So fear not if you haven’t gotten your order yet. Patience.

What does this mean? It means that I will be opening my shop up for a weekend out of the month! So, if you were curious to how I do my work and didn’t want to watch videos of it or you wanted to watch me forge on your order or hundreds of other knives that I slave away on, then you can come and see me in action.

You want to try to forge yourself? Well that is more or less the reason I am doing this. For most of our demonstrations, whether it is at our 2nd Thursday meeting or the hammer-ins, we can’t really let you get in there and get your hands dirty. So if you wanted to at least test out basic forging, I teach you what very little I know and let you hammer and forge at my shop.

When? I’ll probably set it up around the 2nd Thursday through Saturday of every month. Once I’ve remodeled, which you will be updated on that.

How much will it cost? Nothing at all. It will basically be a free mini-workshop. Focused around forging knives. I may come up with some themes and projects for each month. Something worth seeing.

One of two practice pieces that I have been messing with in my spare time. As you know, my weakest point in knife making is hidden tang knives. Right next to folding knives. However, to become a Master Smith in the ABS you pretty much have to make hidden tang knives for the test. Which forces me to make these knives that I honestly wasn’t planning on making very many of. They are fun to do every now and then, don’t get me wrong. It isn’t my style though. Now I have to do it so much that I’m flawless at them. Like that will ever happen! lol

I have a hunting knife that is the other practice piece. I’ll be showing you that one soon.

Ohhh and I will be getting a good picture of the Persian dagger soon. I think in a few days actually. I’ll have to check in with them and see. It will be without the etching and might actually show just how awesome that knife really was. I’m crossing my fingers.

I decided to do Backup with a satin finish and horse mat for the handle. I realize now that horse mat is a pain in comparison with other handle materials. Even thought I like the black and silver look, I’m probably going to fall back to using orange/black g-10 for the handle like I had originally planned.

It was still a fun knife though. :)

So! This was a shorter version of my old Rasp Bowies that I use to make with stag handles. It’s been a while since I did a hidden tang knife with stag. The blade is 6” long and it actually looks bigger in person. I didn’t have a lot of time to get a good photo of it, but you know how it goes. I hope you all have a great Christmas!
